Covid spoiled many plans, but how will these plans look post the pandemic?

Yes, we made a plan to go to Goa. And yes, the plan was scrubbed. Goa, the name speaks for itself. However, when teenagers make Goa plans for the first time, it usually ends up not in their favor. This year, the reason was the dreadful pandemic.

Inevitably, COVID-19 has restricted us in terms of the places we can visit and actually enjoy. People have become apprehensive of leaving their cities, let alone countries. It is therefore fair to say that the travel industry has been hugely impacted due to the virus. However, over the last few months, people (especially in India) have been going out vacationing with their families and friends. But how has the pandemic changed travel?

Our best friends now and for a few more years in my conviction are masks and sanitizers. Masks have become soul mates and one simply can’t afford to not wear a mask. Regular washing and sanitizing of hands have become the new normal. Travelling long journeys like going to another city or another country will require a COVID test and one will be allowed only if the result is negative. One will need more than a passport when travelling. Health certificates and insurance will become mandatory. With all the rules and regulations, where can you go for a holiday?

Some places will literally pay you to visit them post the pandemic. Countries like the United Kingdom and Italy, which saw a devastating nosedive in their economy will pay for more tourists once the pandemic is over. Luxury hotels will now make their prices more affordable and they will look to increase the value for money. Therefore luxury will become cheaper. However, once the pandemic says goodbye, flight rates can skyrocket as there will be an exponential increase in the number of people travelling. This will be one of the reasons why there will be an increase in the number of road trips around the world. Nature and wildlife visits will increase. People will prefer domestic holidays over international ones because of which air quality will improve. It therefore goes without saying you’ll plan your holidays differently with many more factors coming into picture.

There will be huge changes but one thing is for sure- you will get to travel. Goa trips will be on! People will once again be excited about their holidays. People will be happier and will live a better life. But for now, let’s stand by as COVID-19 takes a leave and wish for a much brighter future!
