Myntra logo change: a bit too far?

In the last month of 2020, a complaint was lodged against the E-Commerce website Myntra. The complaint flabbergasted me and almost all of the country. Naaz Patel, the founder of an NGO called Avesta Foundation, alleged the Myntra logo to be offensive and insulting to women as it resembled a naked woman.

For those who don’t know, this was the logo of Myntra which was deemed to be offensive to women. Well, I was surprised when I first heard about this because I was aware of the fact that the Myntra logo only had an M. It beat my logic as to how this logo can be offensive to women. Upon searching further and having a look at the logo for 10 straight minutes, I understood a little of what was going on. But what I want to ask is: do people stare at a logo for 10 minutes? Well, the human tendency would say no. if that is the case, what led to this peculiar complaint?

This question makes us reflect on many things going on in society. Are people taking the women empowerment thing a bit too far? Because this was the reaction of many people I know. “This is a tad too much”. This was the reaction of the people. In my conviction, people have gone overboard and crazy behind this and this complaint is the proof. One can say people do this to gain attention and become popular and that is plausible but is this right? As time passes and the use of technology increases, more people would indulge in these antiques. I believe this is the tip of the iceberg. In the future, things much worse are going to come out and will leave people in a state of awe. This is because the mindset of people has changed now. They want to pounce at the smallest of things and start their protest which is why Myntra did not retaliate or reply but changed their logo immediately. This is the grim reality in this day and age.

With something like this happening, social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook were ought to flood with memes. These are a few memes that became famous.

People have been very vocal in putting forth their opinions on social media. There have been hundreds of memes spread across the country. This was inevitably one of the highlights of January and the country was truly amused considering the number of memes being circulated.

To conclude, this is one of the examples of the heights people can reach in this era. This has been of the downsides the world has faced. There is no stopping when it comes to people saying what they feel and express their emotions but it becomes annoying when they become impractical and illogical. The coming years will be very crucial as more people are now getting acquainted with these areas of knowledge. It is therefore intriguing to think about how the future looks and what it has in store for us!
